About the Event
We were delighted to welcome Francesca Wade to Suffolk Book League. Francesca has written for publications including The London Review of Books, Times Literary Supplement, Financial Times, New Statesman and Prospect, and is editor of The White Review.
Her first book Square Haunting, was a Sunday Times Literary Non-Fiction Book of the Year, a Guardian Best Book of the Year and is long listed for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non Fiction. It focuses on cultural, political and domestic dramas in early 20th century London through telling the story of five female writers: H.D.; Dorothy L. Sayers; Jane Harrison; Eileen Power and Virginia Woolf. At various times between 1916 and 1940 all these influential women lived in Bloomsbury’s Mecklenburgh Square.
