Claire Lynch has a doctorate from the University of Oxford and is an honorary Professor of English and Creative Writing at Brunel, University of London. Her poignant memoir small: on motherhoods, about her quest to become a parent was published in 2019. Claire is the author of several academic books, chapters, and journal articles; her non-fiction has been in LitHub, The Washington Post and on BBC Radio 4. We’re delighted that she will be in conversation about A Family Matter  , her powerful new novel. A Family Matter won the Gold Book of the Year award at the 2025 Nero Book Awards. It concerns the removal of children from their lesbian mothers in child custody cases in 1980s Britain.
