Recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Suffolk, Charlie Haylock is a bestselling author and a distinguished language historian. His first book, Sloightly on Th’ Huh (2004) was the best selling book in Suffolk that year. Others followed including A Rum Owd Dew (2006); Caw’d A Hell – Thas Suffen Good! (2008); Don’t Hurry Me – I’m Suffolk (2013), Charlie's News Quips (2014). With Barrie Appleby as his illustrator, Charlie published  In a Manner of Speaking: the Story of Spoken English (2017). He is a popular public speaker and an authority on the Suffolk dialect.
